Perched at the pinnacle of Ascent, the Summit Residences represent Olson Kundig’s thoughtful response to an iconic landmark, integrating architecture with the surrounding landscape. Architecture emerges directly from the geology of Camelback Mountain, creating a seamless connection between built and natural environments. Each residence is precisely oriented to capture the wonder of desert light and skies. Full-height walls of glass frame mountain and valley views, while sliding panels dissolve the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The 63 exclusive residences rise naturally from the contours of Camelback Mountain, with materials that echo the rich tones and textures of the surrounding desert landscape. Deep cantilevered rooflines, shaped to harmonize with the movement of the sun, create shaded outdoor spaces that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living. Textured facades of weathered metal and stone add depth and refinement, enhancing the timeless connection to place.
The Summit Residences rise from native stone, their red sandstone and charcoal facades echoing the mountain’s own dramatic face. Natural boulders and indigenous plants weave through the grounds, creating intimate spaces for desert living.
In both materiality and experience, the design takes cues from the distinct geology and textures of the landscape, including the ever-changing seasonal features of the sky, flora, and fauna.

The residential lobby is intimate and warm, with red sandstone, weathered metal, and a custom 10-foot wood, pivot door with Tom Kundig Collection hardware. Interiors feature tactile materials that bring the outside in, with relaxed seating and artwork commissioned by local artists.
Design is in harmony with the mountain’s textured faces and the desert’s botanical features. The building exterior, consisting of local Arizona stonework, features red sandstone and charcoal to reflect the colors of iconic Camelback Mountain.
