Since their founding in 1966, Olson Kundig has created a body of work that unites architecture and design with nature, culture, and art. They understand great design begins by asking intentional questions about the project’s environment, and seeking a balance between rational and intuitive thinking.
Olson Kundig is a collaborative design practice whose work expands the context of built and natural landscapes. With offices in Seattle, New York City, and Chicago, the firm seeks inspiration from the site and setting to create integrated architecture and interior design, as well as the Tom Kundig Collection of interior hardware.
Widely published, Olson Kundig has been recognized with some of the industry’s highest honors, including a National Design Award in Architecture Design from the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, an Academy Award in Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and induction into Interior Design Magazine’s Hall of Fame. They have been included on Architectural Digest’s AD100 list sixteen times and named one of Fast Company’s Top Ten Most Innovative Companies in Architecture four times. Their collaborative team have received more than 130 national, regional, and local design honors from the American Institute of Architects programs, as well as awards from the International Interior Design Association, the Chicago Athenaeum, and other organizations of peers.
